Kaduna State University (KASU) has further strengthened its commitment to Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption and digital transformation in higher education with a strategic lecture delivered by AI entrepreneur and media expert, Saidu Ismail Ahmad.
The event, hosted by the Provost, College of Arts, Education, Humanities and Law, Prof. Babajo Kofa, brought together academic staff, administrators, and students. In attendance were the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Giaus, Fatima Shehu Makarfi from College Administration, and other stakeholders across the university.
Delivering the lecture, Mr. Ahmad, a broadcaster with over 30 years’ experience and CEO/Co-Founder of LitesWare LTD, outlined the transformative role of AI in teaching, learning, research, and professional development. He showcased practical AI tools that lecturers, students, and professionals can use to boost productivity, enhance learning, and create sustainable opportunities.
Speaking on global trends, Mr. Ahmad stressed that AI should be embraced as an instrument for innovation and efficiency, not as a replacement for human creativity. He introduced NaijaEdu AI, an academic intelligence platform designed to support knowledge management, research, and learning in universities. He expressed readiness to partner with KASU to deploy the platform and advance the university’s digitalization agenda.
The session also featured robust engagement on responsible AI use. Staff raised concerns about students relying on AI without critical thinking. Mr. Ahmad urged the university to develop guidelines that position AI as a learning aid to complement, not substitute, independent research.
