The Green KASU Stability Initiative launched a tree nurturing and adoption campaign, themed “Fight Climate Change, Nurture a Tree.” The event, held at KASU on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, brought together dignitaries, students, and environmental stakeholders to promote tree planting and care.



Dr. Aliyu Jafar, Chairman of the Green KASU Stability Initiative, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of tree nurturing and adoption in his welcome address. He encouraged everyone to support the initiative, highlighting the significance of trees in promoting environmental sustainability.

Prof. Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango, DVC Academic and representative of the Vice Chancellor, highlighted the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability. He encouraged everyone to plant trees, citing a Chinese proverb that the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, and the next best time is now. He shared his personal experience of planting trees and encouraged others to follow suit.

Mallam Hamisu Yakubu Suleiman, Chairman of Green Stands Forest Camps, provided practical tips on tree nurturing and care. He emphasized the importance of selecting suitable tree species, proper planting locations, and regular maintenance. He highlighted the need to plant trees in locations with adequate water supply, sunlight, and soil nutrients. He also stressed the importance of nurturing and managing trees, including applying fertilizers, watering, weeding, and pruning.

Yusuf Amoke, S/A to the Governor of Kaduna State on Climate Change, emphasized the significance of the initiative in combating climate change. He encouraged everyone to join the Green KASU initiative, highlighting the impact of climate change on the environment.

Honorable Abubakar Buba, Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Kaduna State, appreciated the Green KASU initiative and encouraged attendees to make tree planting a yearly habit. He highlighted the economic, social, and environmental benefits of trees, including job creation, property value, eco-tourism, food security, and human health.
The Green KASU Tree Nurturing and Adoption Campaign aims to promote environmental sustainability, combat climate change, educate students and the community on tree care and importance, and encourage community engagement and tree adoption.



The event concluded with the Chairman of the Green KASU initiative expressing gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, management, dignitaries, participants, students, and organizers for their support. The campaign marked a significant step towards environmental sustainability and combating climate change. The event ended with a practical tree-planting activity, where participants planted trees, and photographs were taken to commemorate the occasion.
