KASU Library Community Service Department Marks International Women’s Day 2025 on KASU FM

The Community Service Department of Kaduna State University (KASU) Library successfully marked International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 with a live radio presentation on KASU FM 98.5 on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

The event, themed “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” aligned with the global movement advocating for gender equality. It also commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark framework for advancing women’s rights worldwide.

The panel engaged in insightful discussions on critical gender issues affecting women and girls in Kaduna State and Nigeria, focusing on:

✅ Women’s Rights: Progress, challenges, and policy impact

✅ Education & Economic Empowerment: Breaking barriers for girls and women

✅ Women in Leadership: Advocating for greater representation

✅ Gender-Based Violence: Addressing legal protections and justice

✅ Youth & Community Engagement: Mobilizing change for a gender-equal future

✅ Insecurity & Its Impact on Women: Examining the effects of banditry, kidnapping, and communal conflicts

Speakers emphasized the need for stronger policies and collective action to address gender-based discrimination, while also highlighting success stories of women overcoming barriers in leadership, education, and economic empowerment.

The interactive session allowed listeners to call in and share their perspectives, fostering a robust community discussion on how to drive meaningful change for women and girls.
