The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has expressed its commitment to collaborating with Kaduna State University (KASU) to enhance security on campus and protect the lives and property of students and staff.
During a courtesy visit to the university, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Nuhu Muhammad, represented by Superintendent Susan Remo, emphasized the importance of a strong partnership between security agencies and academic institutions. She explained that the visit aimed to explore ways the corps could work closely with KASU to tackle security challenges within the university community.

Superintendent Remo stressed that ensuring a secure environment for learning is a collective responsibility, urging the university to actively involve the NSCDC in all security-related programs. She further called on KASU to seek the corps’ assistance whenever security concerns arise, emphasizing that the NSCDC is always ready to provide support.
Additionally, she proposed training sessions for students on self-defense techniques, equipping them with the skills to protect themselves in case of an attack. She noted that with the increasing rate of insecurity in the country, students must be empowered to respond effectively to potential threats.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of KASU, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, described the collaboration as timely, given the rising security concerns across the country. He acknowledged that security challenges have become more complex, making it difficult for the police alone to handle them effectively.

Prof. Musa commended the NSCDC for its proactive approach in reaching out to the institution, stating that such partnerships would go a long way in improving safety within the university. He assured the corps of the university’s willingness to work closely with them to ensure that staff and students feel secure.
Highlighting the importance of securing female students, the Vice-Chancellor specifically welcomed the involvement of the NSCDC’s Female Strike Force. He noted that ensuring the safety of students residing in the girls’ hostels is a top priority for the university and expressed confidence that the partnership with the Female Strike Force would help strengthen security measures in that regard.
Similarly, KASU’s Registrar, Samira Balarabe, Esq., applauded the efforts of the Female Strike Force and commended their dedication to their duties. She encouraged them to sustain their commitment to protecting lives and maintaining peace within the community.
The event was attended by several key officials from both KASU and the NSCDC. Among those present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yushau Ibrahim Ango; Dr. Bashariyya Bashir Mustapha, Director of the Centre for Mentorship and Career Development; the university’s Chief Security Officer, Col. (Rtd) Ahmed Yabagyi; and other dignitaries.
The visit marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at improving security at KASU, ensuring that students and staff can go about their academic and professional activities in a safe and secure environment.
