The Department of Geography and Sustainability studies on Thursday, 13th February 2025 received the donation of a drone and a starlink Internet hub from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology, Dr. Yusuf Saleh and the Head of Department respectively.
In her remarks, the HOD, Dr Asmau Mukhtar, thanked the Permanent Secretary for his kind gesture which will bolster research activities in the department. She also noted that the provision of starlink Internet service will support teaching and research activities for students and staff. She thanked the University Management for its continuous support to the department and called on them to continue to support activities within the department. To strengthen their activities, she requested management to create more office workspaces for their use and also support with monthly subscription fees for the internet service.
The Permanent Secretary, MBIT, presented a drone to the department, enhancing its research capabilities.
The VC, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa expressed appreciation for the support and reiterated the need for renewable energy solutions. He praised the department’s maintenance culture and tasked the Director of ICT with enhancing digital literacy amongst staff and students of the department.
