In a groundbreaking move, Kaduna State University (KASU) has joined forces with Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) in Russia to tackle the growing digital divide in the global landscape. This partnership was forged in the aftermath of a successful international conference, “Journalism in 2024: Creativity, Profession, Industry,” held at MSU’s Faculty of Journalism from Wednesday, 5th to Saturday, 8th February 2025.
The KASU delegation, led by Honourable Commissioner of Education, Prof. Muhammad Sani Bello and accompanied by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Prof. Ayodele Joseph and Mr. Mendos Bala Dogo, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at KASU presented insightful discussions on Africa’s unique media landscape, the impact of technology on the industry, and the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence for journalists. The conference provided a platform for scholars and researchers from around the world to exchange ideas and explore ways to bridge the digital divide.



The partnership between KASU and MSU aims to establish a collaborative framework for researchers and scholars to share knowledge and propose effective solutions to reduce the digital divide.
By working together, the two institutions hope to create avenues for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and innovation, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and connected global digital landscape.
In his address, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, Vice-Chancellor of KASU, emphasized that the partnership is a significant step towards addressing the digital divide and promoting global understanding. He noted that the partnership will provide opportunities for both universities to explore new ways of collaborating and sharing knowledge.
