Center for Biosecurity Biosafety Infectious Diseases and One Health (CEBBIDOH), Collaborate with Nigerian immigration Services on Nigerian preparedness on Future Pandemics: A Focus on pathogen X

CEBBIDOH’s collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service aims to enhance Nigeria’s preparedness and response to future pandemics, including the mysterious Pathogen X. This partnership seeks to leverage the Nigerian Immigration Service’s critical role in monitoring and controlling the movement of people across borders, thereby preventing the spread of infectious diseases.

Key Objectives

– Enhance Surveillance: Strengthen surveillance mechanisms at points of entry to quickly detect and respond to potential cases of Pathogen X.

– Risk Assessment and Management: Develop and implement risk assessment and management protocols for travelers arriving from high-risk areas.

– Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity building for Nigerian Immigration Service personnel on pandemic preparedness, detection, and response.

Strategies

– Risk Communication: Conduct risk communication and community engagement activities to raise awareness among travelers and communities about Pathogen X.

– Collaboration and Coordination: Establish effective collaboration and coordination mechanisms between CEBBIDOH, Nigerian Immigration Service, and other relevant stakeholders.

– Universal Health Coverage: Scale up universal health coverage to ensure that everyone has access to essential health services, including pandemic preparedness and response.

Expected Outcomes

– Improved Pandemic Preparedness: Enhanced pandemic preparedness and response capacity among Nigerian Immigration Service personnel.
