Students from the Department of Microbiology, Kaduna State University (KASU), have been honored with an Award of Excellence after emerging victorious at the just-concluded National Quiz and Spelling Bee Competition held at Gombe State University, Gombe State.
In recognition of their outstanding achievement, the President of the Association of Microbiology Students, KASU Chapter, Adamu Abubakar, alongside other executive members, presented the award to the Vice-Chancellor of KASU, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa.


Speaking during the presentation, Abubakar expressed his gratitude to the university’s management for its unwavering support—both academically and financially—which played a crucial role in their success at the competition. He commended the institution for its commitment to academic excellence and for providing students with the necessary resources to compete at national levels.
In his remarks, Prof. Musa applauded the students for their dedication and excellence, emphasizing that their victory is a testament to the quality of education at KASU. He stated that their achievement has further reinforced the university’s reputation for producing outstanding and competitive students.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the students to continue striving for excellence and to use this success as motivation to achieve greater heights. He urged them to keep making KASU proud and to remain ambassadors of academic brilliance.
Also speaking at the event, the Registrar of KASU, Samira Balarabe, Esq congratulated the participants and commended their efforts in bringing honor to the university. She encouraged them to maintain their competitive spirit and assured them of continued support from the university’s management.
In recognition of their achievement, the Registrar announced that the university would organize a special get-together to celebrate the students’ success and encourage others to aim for similar excellence.
The award presentation ceremony was attended by several high-ranking university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Yushau Ibrahim Ango, and the Director of the Centre for Mentorship and Career Development, Dr. Bashariyya Bashir Mustapha, among others.
