The College of Medicine, Kaduna State University (KASU), organized a send-forth ceremony in honor of Prof. Abdullahi Alkali Abba, the immediate past Provost, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the institution.
In his welcome address, the Acting Provost, College of Medicine, Dr. Stephen B. Bature congratulated Prof. Abba on the successful completion of his tenure, describing him as a man of integrity and humanity. He expressed deep appreciation for the celebrant’s dedication and urged him to remain available to support the College whenever the need arises.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, commended Prof. Abba for his immense contributions to the growth and development of the institution. He emphasized that the University would always remember his pivotal role in advancing the College of Medicine. Furthermore, he encouraged retirees in the academic field to dedicate some of their time to mentoring students and sharing their wealth of knowledge.
Similarly, the Chief Medical Director of Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, KASU, Prof. Abdulkadir Musa Tabari, lauded Prof. Abba’s remarkable efforts in training medical students both in Nigeria and abroad. He acknowledged the celebrant’s significant role in the education and professional development of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Prof. Tabari further highlighted that Prof. Abba’s leadership helped strengthen the collaboration between Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and KASU, enhancing the quality of medical education and healthcare services.
Speaking on behalf of the staff of the College, Prof. Yawale Ilyasu described Prof. Abba as a leader who fostered unity and inclusivity within the institution.
The University Registrar, Hajiya Samira Balarabe, also expressed gratitude to Prof. Abba for mentoring young minds and shaping them into skilled medical professionals. She prayed for his continued success in all his future endeavors.
In his response, Prof. Abdullahi Alkali Abba expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone present for making the occasion memorable. He thanked the University community for their support and pledged to continue contributing to the advancement of medical education whenever possible.
The event was a testament to Prof. Abba’s remarkable legacy, as colleagues, students, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate his dedication and service to the institution.
As a highlight of the event, an Award of Excellence was presented to Prof. Abba in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the University.
