Kaduna State University (KASU) has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence academic activities at its Distance Learning Institute, marking a significant milestone in the University’s drive to expand access to quality higher education through technology-enabled learning.
The approval, conveyed in a letter dated 15th July, 2026, was granted following the successful validation of the proposed Distance Learning Institute by an NUC panel that visited the University from 14th to 16th April, 2026.

According to the Commission, the Institute is to begin operations with the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme only, to be delivered through the ICT-Enabled Supported Blended Learning mode under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system.
The NUC further directed the University to ensure full compliance with all guidelines governing distance learning programmes in Nigerian universities and to implement the recommendations contained in the panel’s Technical Report.
The Commission also stated that a Post-Validation Assessment Exercise will be conducted after one year of operation as part of its quality assurance process. It added that any introduction of additional programmes will be subject to programme-by-programme assessment and approval by the Commission.
