The Royal Tropicana Hostel of the Kaduna State University is set to re-open – end of January 2025.
The sunset of the early days of January 2025 fell upon a Royal Tropicana Hostel that’s undergoing a series of renovations to render it fit for accommodating female students of Kaduna State University amidst the 2024/2025 academic session.
On Monday, January 20, 2025, we had the privilege of meeting with the admin, in person of Mrs. Ruqayya. Our little chat informed us of the latest developments within the hostel, which we’ll be sharing with you in this article.
Recall that the Royal Tropicana Hostel has been closed for some time now, making it unable to accommodate students for the entire 2023/2024 academic session. Part of the reasons for the initial closure of the hostel was a priority concern for the safety of students, especially during rainy seasons.
The news of the hostel being renovated comes with a chill as new intakes of the 2024/2025 academic session already lament their inability to secure hostels on time. Per the report, the ASD, Kadabo, PG, Hamdala, and MKR hostels in the Kaduna State University main campus have all been occupied with no spaces available.
This insists on the fact that the renovation of the Royal Tropicana Hostel and its opening by the end of January 2025 comes at the right time when accommodation is in dire need by female students of the Kaduna State University.
Based on what we gathered, the hostel now features these:
Rooms
There are two types of rooms in the new Royal Tropicana Hostel now. They are:
Room for 2
Costs 220k – for each person, making a total of 440k for the room.
Room for 4
Costs 120k – for each person, making a total of 480k for the room.
Accessibility
Toilets: Each room now has a toilet in it, and there’s also a toilet on each level of the hostel.
Kitchen: Each level has a general kitchen for students to use at their convenience.
