Biography

 

Falalu Ibrahim Lawan is a lecturer at the Department of Intelligent Computing, Kaduna State University, Nigeria. He specializes in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing, with a focus on sentiment analysis and African languages. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, and a bachelor’s degree from the International University of East Africa, Kampala. Lawan has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications, notably in the field of Hausa NLP and sentiment classification using deep learning. As an active member of communities like Hausa NLP, Masakhane, and Arewa Data Science Academy, he is deeply involved in advancing African language technologies. He is a recipient of several awards and grants, including a $40,000 research grant and multiple scholarships from the African Development Bank and Kano State Government.
