Biography

Dr. Aishatu Mohammed Aliyu, born in Zaria, Kaduna State, is an accomplished microbiologist and educator. A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at Kaduna State University, she joined the university on June 16, 2021, bringing extensive teaching and research experience.

Dr. Aliyu earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she also completed her M.Sc., B.Sc., and PGD Education, showcasing her commitment to academic excellence. Her research interests span virology, epidemiology, and environmental microbiology, with notable expertise in advanced microbiological techniques, public health, and waste management.

With a career spanning over two decades, she has held various academic roles, including Principal Lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic. She has supervised numerous undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, and master’s theses, focusing on diverse topics like antimicrobial resistance, food safety, and infectious diseases. A prolific participant in international and local conferences, she remains dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge.

Dr. Aliyu actively contributes to academic leadership as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences and a member of several committees. Fluent in English and Hausa, she is a member of multiple professional bodies, reflecting her passion for mentorship, research, and community development in microbiology and beyond.
