KASU Receives Facilities for Commencement of Long Vacation Training Programme at Queen Amina College

Kaduna State University (KASU) has received facilities for the commencement of its Long Vacation Training (LVT) Programme at Queen Amina College, Kaduna, following a formal handover ceremony held to mark the beginning of the initiative.

The arrangement which expands access to educational opportunities provides for the use of facilities at Queen Amina College as a study centre for the Long Vacation Training Programme.

The KASU delegation was led by the Provost of the College of Art, Humanities, Law and Education, Professor Ahmed Kofa Babajo. Other members of the delegation included the Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Isah Alhaji Yahaya; the Faculty Secretary, Mr Habibu Yahaya; the College Secretary, Mrs Ainau Maikudi; the LVT Coordinator, Dr Anyio Bahago Theophilus; LVT Team Member, Dr Minnin Amina Mohammed; and LVT Team Member, Mr Stephen Otene Idoko.

The Queen Amina College delegation was led by the Principal, Mrs Zainab Mohammad, and included the Vice Principal (Academic), Malama Jumai Adamu, and the Vice Principal (Administration), Mallam Aminu Suleiman.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mrs Zainab Mohammad disclosed that the Kaduna State Ministry of Education formally communicated its approval for the use of the college’s facilities for the implementation of the programme. She expressed delight that the institution was selected to host the initiative and reaffirmed the college’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for its successful implementation.

Mrs Mohammad commended Kaduna State University and the Kaduna State Government for the initiative, describing it as a significant contribution to expanding access to higher education and promoting academic development in Kaduna State. She encouraged prospective students to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the Long Vacation Training Programme.

Also speaking, the Provost of the College of Art, Humanities, Law and Education, Kaduna State University, Professor Ahmed Kofa Babajo, described the handover as a significant milestone in the University’s commitment to extending quality higher education beyond the conventional classroom.

According to Professor Babajo, the Long Vacation Training Programme is designed to provide flexible learning opportunities for teachers, civil servants, business owners and other eligible candidates who are unable to pursue full-time university education because of work and other responsibilities. He noted that the programme demonstrates the University’s resolve to bring higher education closer to the people while maintaining high academic standards.

Professor Babajo commended the Kaduna State Government for facilitating the use of the facility and described Queen Amina College as a secure and conducive environment with the necessary infrastructure to support effective teaching and learning. He added that the partnership between Kaduna State University, the Kaduna State Ministry of Education and Queen Amina College reflects a shared commitment to widening access to quality higher education across the state.

He further explained that although the Long Vacation Training Programme is particularly beneficial to teachers and other working professionals, it is not limited to education-related disciplines. Rather, qualified candidates will have the opportunity to enrol in a wide range of approved academic programmes while pursuing their studies during the long vacation period.

Professor Babajo expressed confidence that the programme would contribute significantly to human capital development and reaffirmed Kaduna State University’s commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the programme.

The handover ceremony marks the formal commencement of preparations for the Long Vacation Training Programme at Queen Amina College and underscores Kaduna State University’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities through strategic partnerships with the Kaduna State Government, the Ministry of Education and host institutions across the state.
