KASU Management Receives NUC Accreditation Team for B.Sc. Building Programme

The management of Kaduna State University (KASU) on Friday, 28 November 2025, warmly received the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Team for the B.Sc. Building programme at the Kafanchan Campus. The visit marked the exit phase of the accreditation exercise, with the Building Department poised for a positive evaluation.

The accreditation team was led by Prof. Godwin Idoro of the University of Lagos, who commended the university management for its cooperation and the conducive environment provided throughout the exercise. Presenting the team’s preliminary observations, he highlighted key areas of assessment, including cost evaluation facilities, skills acquisition processes, project management software application, external examination systems, and internal quality assurance mechanisms.

Prof. Idoro expressed satisfaction with the university’s library resources and institutional website, describing them as commendable. He, however, encouraged the university to subscribe to additional publishers relevant to the Building discipline and to continue strengthening funding structures for the programme.

He further emphasized the importance of workshops, field trips, and industry collaborations in a practically oriented programme such as Building. He urged the management to enhance support for students in these areas, noting the need for visible evidence of collaborative activities in teaching, research, and publications.

In his remarks, the Director of Academic Planning, KASU, Prof. Auwal Farouk Abdussalam, expressed profound appreciation to the NUC team for their diligence and constructive feedback.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, welcomed the team and reaffirmed KASU’s commitment to meeting and exceeding the NUC’s expectations. He assured that the university would act promptly on the observations raised, particularly in areas that would further enrich academic quality.

Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango, expressed satisfaction with the accreditation process and appreciated the team’s objective assessment. He noted that the observations provided would guide the university toward continuous improvement, especially in staff development and programme enhancement.

The KASU team present at the reception included Prof. Helen Afang Andow, DVC—Strategy, Innovation and Service Delivery; Mr. Timothy Ishaku Bature, Principal Planning Officer; Haj. Hauwwa Ibrahim and Haj. Farida Muhammad, both of the Directorate of Academic Planning; and Mr. Dauda Dahiru, Head of the Department of Building, Kafanchan Campus.
