KASU Holds Orientation and Skill Acquisition Ceremony for National Ear Care Center Interns

The Entrepreneurship Research and Development Center (ERDC) of Kaduna State University (KASU) held an orientation ceremony on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, for interns from the National Ear Care Center. The event took place at Lecture Theater 4, main campus, and marked the beginning of a one-month skill acquisition program.

In her welcome address, Dr. Jamila Muhammed, Director of the ERDC, warmly received the interns and emphasized the importance of the program. She encouraged them to make the most of their stay by focusing on learning and personal development. She informed the interns that identification letters with passport photographs would be issued and sternly advised them to exhibit discipline and adhere to KASU’s rules throughout the program.

Dr. Usman Yahaya, Deputy Director of ERDC, also welcomed the interns and urged them to remain attentive, focused, and respectful during their time at the University. He reiterated the center’s commitment to equipping them with practical entrepreneurial and vocational skills.

Representing the National Ear Care Center, Mr. Idris Abdulaziz, Students Affairs Officer of the School of Health Information Management, encouraged the interns to go beyond simply acquiring skills by being creative and discovering their own strengths. He advised them to be dedicated and purpose-driven.

Also from the National Ear Care Center, Mr. Abdulaziz Jimoh, Senior Administrative Officer, cautioned the interns against engaging in any immoral, criminal, or shameful acts during the program, warning that any offenders would face consequences without institutional support. He wished them success in their journey.

Mrs. Bilkisu Yusuf, Director of Skills and Acquisition at the Chiroma Center, advised the interns on punctuality, discipline, and proper dressing. She emphasized that any form of nonchalance or disrespect would attract penalties, and stressed the importance of maintaining decorum throughout the internship.

Representing the University Management, Prof. Helen Afang Andow, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategy, Innovation, and Service Delivery, welcomed the interns on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa. She expressed delight at their choice to acquire skills at KASU and encouraged the ERDC team to incorporate soft skills into the curriculum, noting their long-term value in professional development. She urged the interns to remain focused and committed.

The ceremony concluded with group photographs involving the DVC, interns, and ERDC staff at the Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Center. Interns were subsequently assigned to their preferred skills as the one-month training program officially commenced.
