KASU Hosts International Scholars in Strategic Courtesy Visit

Kaduna State University (KASU) on Monday, 21st July 2025, received two distinguished scholars, Prof. Tim Stapleton from the Department of History and Fellow/Program Director, Centre for Military Security and Strategic Studies (CMSS), University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Prof. Roy Doron, CD Spangler Distinguished Professor of African/African History, Managing Editor, Journal of African Military, Department of History, Politics and Social Justice, Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina, USA, on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening academic collaboration with KASU.

The delegation was led by Prof. Solomon Oduma Aboh. The meeting was hosted by Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University. Also present were key university officials, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yusha’u I. Ango, the Registrar, Barr. Samira Balarabe, as well as several provosts, professors, and educational psychologists.

During the visit, Professors Tim Stapleton and Roy Doron expressed their joy at being welcomed to KASU and extended their appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for the warm reception. They both noted their enthusiasm for the potential collaboration with the university, particularly in research and academic publication.

Prof. Solomon Oduma Aboh explained that the purpose of the courtesy visit was to establish stronger ties between the visiting institutions and KASU, with a major focus on collaborative research and high-quality journal publications.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor thanked all the guests for honoring the university with their presence. He especially appreciated Professor Solomon Oduma Aboh for facilitating the visit and extended his gratitude to the visiting professors. He acknowledged that the proposed collaboration aligns with the university’s current strategic plan and comes at a time when KASU is actively seeking meaningful international partnerships.

Prof. Musa assured the visitors that the university’s management is fully committed to supporting the partnership. He added that a concrete action plan would be developed to ensure successful implementation, especially in areas related to scholarships and other educational benefits.

The visit concluded with a photo session that included management, the visitors, and other participants.
