The Faculty of Management Sciences, Kaduna State University (KASU), has organised a one-day capacity-building workshop aimed at equipping scholars with the knowledge and skills required to improve research grant visibility and increase publications in high-impact international journals.

The workshop, which brought together scholars from across the university, featured an international academic and research expert, Dr. Abdulrasheed Aminullah, a lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management, School of Business Management, Universiti Utara Malaysia.

Speaking during the workshop, Dr. Aminullah took participants through critical aspects of academic publishing, including publication review, manuscript assessment, journal selection and strategies for successfully publishing research in reputable and high-impact outlets.

His presentation provided participants with practical insights into the expectations of international journals and the processes researchers must understand to transform quality research into publications capable of attracting global recognition and opening doors to competitive research grants.
In an interview, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Nuraddeen Usman Miko, described the workshop as an important opportunity for scholars to gain international exposure and understand research and publication practices beyond the local academic environment.

According to him, the initiative is part of the faculty’s broader vision of building a stronger research culture within the university and preparing academics to compete effectively for international research grants.
Prof. Miko said the faculty has plans to make such capacity-building activities a regular feature, with the long-term objective of continuously teaching and mentoring scholars on how to identify, develop and secure international research funding.
He further disclosed that arrangements are already underway through a contract for online journal-related inputs, stressing that international visibility remains paramount to the faculty’s research agenda.
“There is an international experience being gained from this workshop, as well as exposure to international practices,” Prof. Miko said, noting that the faculty would continue to explore opportunities that could position its scholars more prominently on the global academic stage.
