The 2025 edition of the College of Communication, Management, and Social Sciences (CCM&SS) Provost’s Cup concluded in spectacular fashion, with the Social Sciences team emerging as the undisputed champions. The tournament, which spanned several days, saw Social Sciences dominate the field with an impressive haul of 8 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal, showcasing exceptional talent and competitive spirit.
This annual intra-college event brought together students from the three departments Communication, Management Sciences, and Social Sciences in a vibrant display of sportsmanship, unity, and collective effort to foster both athletic and personal development. The games provided not only a platform for competition but also an opportunity to strengthen bonds among new and returning students.

The male football finals delivered one of the tournament’s most thrilling moments, with Management Sciences clinching the gold medal after a tense match. Social Sciences and Communication followed with silver and bronze, respectively. In the female football category, Social Sciences emerged victorious, while Management Sciences and Communication secured second and third places.
The individual events were similarly marked by Social Sciences’ dominance. In male badminton singles, Elisha Isah took gold, with Thaddus Timothy of Communication and a Management Sciences competitor completing the podium. In female badminton singles, Social Sciences again excelled, with Mable Gyeyock and Endurance Adams claiming gold and silver.

Social Sciences continued their strong performance in table tennis. Najib Yusuf secured gold in the male singles, while Mable Gyeyock, already a standout in badminton, added another gold in the female singles. Management Sciences and Communication claimed the remaining podium spots, demonstrating competitive resilience.
The competitive spirit extended beyond traditional sports into intellectual games, where Social Sciences again excelled. Joseph Williams Kure won gold in Scrabble, Abulmajid Jafar triumphed in Chess, and Mark Kingsley’s victory in Draft further cemented the team’s dominance. Management Sciences broke the streak in Ludo, with Japhat Ayeh claiming gold, while Social Sciences earned silver and bronze.

The final medal standings underscored Social Sciences’ commanding lead, finishing with 10 medals: 8 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. Management Sciences secured 5 medals (2 gold, 3 silver), while Communication earned 9 medals (6 silver, 3 bronze), though without a gold.
The final day was marked by a festive atmosphere as medals were presented by the Director of Sports, Prof. Simon Katung Daniel, alongside the Provost of CCM&SS, Prof. Gimba Victor Kyari. During the award ceremony, Prof. Kyari emphasized that the Provost’s Cup is more than just a competition; it is a means of fostering stronger relationships among students, building community, and providing a platform to identify and nurture emerging talent.
Prof. Kyari also expressed optimism for the future, noting his belief that the college’s athletic talent could one day represent the institution nationally. He commended the participants for their sportsmanship and dedication, encouraging them to continue developing their athletic skills.
The Provost’s Cup proved to be much more than a sports tournament; it highlighted the college’s commitment to holistic student development by combining physical education with personal growth and team-building. The event not only showcased the students’ incredible talents but also united the college in the spirit of friendly competition and camaraderie.
