SSANU KASU Empowers Staff with Hands-on Training on Microsoft Tools and Emerging Technologies to Boost Digital Literacy and Workplace Efficiency

In line with its commitment to promoting professional development and enhancing digital competence among university staff, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Kaduna State University (KASU) Branch, organized a specialized training program for its members from Tuesday, 15th to Wednesday, 16th April 2025.

Themed “Advancing Work Efficiency Through Microsoft Tools and Emerging Technologies,” the training aimed to equip staff with practical knowledge and digital skills to boost productivity and seamlessly adapt to emerging technological trends in the workplace.

The program featured hands-on sessions covering key digital tools and concepts, including:

Microsoft Word and Excel

Basic Data Management Techniques

Navigating Emerging Productivity Tools

Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Workplace

A major highlight of the event was a practical demonstration by Mr. Umar Faruk Abdulhamid of the Directorate of ICT, Kaduna State University. His session emphasized the efficient use of Microsoft Word for professional document preparation, guiding participants on:

Selecting appropriate font styles and sizes for clarity and professionalism

Applying correct paragraphing techniques for proper document structure

Utilizing essential features to produce polished and error-free documents

The interactive nature of the training encouraged participants to engage directly with the tools, ask questions, and apply their knowledge under expert supervision.

SSANU KASU Branch Chairperson, Hajiya Sa’adiyya Mustapha, described the training as a timely and impactful initiative aimed at strengthening the digital capacity and work efficiency of staff. Participants expressed appreciation for the practical focus of the sessions and welcomed the opportunity to enhance their skills in line with global best practices.
