Dr. Shehu Idris is a Lecturer I at the Department of Microbiology, Kaduna State University (KASU), Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Environmental Microbiology from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2023) and an MSc in Biotechnology (Distinction) from Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia (2015). He earned his BSc in Microbiology from Bayero University, Kano (2006).
Dr. Idris’ research interests focus on environmental bioengineering, bioremediation, biodegradation of synthetic plastics, bio-based plastics, antimicrobial resistance, and wastewater treatment. He has supervised over forty undergraduate research projects and currently mentors several graduate students.
In addition to teaching, he holds administrative roles such as Director of the University Quality Assurance Unit and Assistant Faculty Examination Officer. Dr. Idris has also contributed to several university committees, including the University Strategy Implementation Committee and the Conference Technical Committee.
He is an active member of the Nigeria Society for Microbiology and the American Society for Microbiology. His work continues to advance both environmental sustainability and public health through microbial research.
