Dr. Zainab Kwaru Muhammad-Idris

A public health physician, with dedication to advancing public health through impactful programs and research in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health, Nutrition, and related fields. With over fifteen years of experience, her expertise spans programme management, strategic planning, and capacity building, particularly in health systems strengthening and policy formulation.

Biography

Dr. Zainab Kwaru Muhammad-Idris is a Consultant Public Health Physician with over 15 years of experience in managing public health programs in Nigeria, particularly in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child health, and nutrition. She currently serves as the Programme Manager for the World Bank-funded Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) Project under the Kaduna State Ministry of Health.

Dr. Muhammad-Idris has held key roles, including Zonal Technical Officer for the UNDP-supported Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals (OSSAP MDGs) and State Team Leader for DFID-funded programs like PATHS2 and SNR. Her leadership in these projects has focused on strengthening health systems, improving HIV/AIDS response, and advancing nutrition interventions.

Dr. Muhammad-Idris’s educational qualifications are impressive. She holds Fellowships in Public Health from the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) and the International Program in Public Health Leadership (IPPHL) from the University of Washington. She also completed an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Ahmadu Bello University. With specialized training in public health, gender, and leadership, she is committed to enhancing health outcomes through research, policy development, and strategic planning. Her work has significantly influenced health policies and strategies at both national and state levels in Nigeria.
