Dr. James Chibueze Igwe, born in Onu-Agwu-Mgbom, Okposi, Ebonyi State, Nigeria, is an accomplished academic and researcher. He is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology at Kaduna State University (KASU), where he has significantly contributed to teaching, research, and academic administration.
Dr. Igwe holds a B.Sc. in Biotechnology (2008) from Ebonyi State University, an M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Microbiology (2013), and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Microbiology (2016), both from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. His doctoral research focused on molecular characterization and antibiotic susceptibility of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing E. coli.
With global certifications from prestigious institutions such as the University of Bath, WHO, and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Dr. Igwe specializes in antimicrobial resistance, molecular biology, biosafety, and One Health. Since joining KASU in 2017, he has excelled in roles like Head of Department, where he drives innovation in pharmaceutical microbiology research and education.
Dr. Igwe has authored numerous publications, supervised postgraduate students, and remains dedicated to advancing public health through academic and research excellence.
