Dr. Khali Allahmagani – UNESCO Bursary Recipient at ICA 2025, Barcelona

The Principal Librarian and University Archivist, Kaduna State University, Dr. Khali Allahmagani was among 20 global professionals awarded a UNESCO-funded bursary to attend the International Archives Congress (ICA) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. The event gathered over 2,000 participants from more than 110 countries, providing a rich platform for dialogue on documentary heritage, archival preservation, and knowledge management.

Dr. Allahmagani participated in a UNESCO Memory of the World workshop from 27th -30th October 2025, which explored strategies for protecting cultural and historical records threatened by conflict or neglect. The conference highlighted the challenges faced by developing nations in safeguarding archives, emphasizing Africa’s modest 4% contribution to the world’s documented memory.

Through this experience, KASU strengthened its institutional capacity in records and archives management, gained access to international professional networks, and reaffirmed its dedication to preserving valuable historical resources for future generations.
