Corporate Affairs Commission Visits KASU: Explores Collaboration Opportunities

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU) as part of its engagement and outreach initiative. The visit which took place on Thursday, 7th August 2025, aimed to promote institutional collaboration, create awareness of the Commission’s operations, and explore areas of mutual interest, particularly in research, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation.

The meeting was held at the Conference Room, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, where the visiting team was received by members of KASU Management. Welcoming the delegation, the Director of Corporate Services, KASU, Mal. Hamza Musa Makarfi formally introduced the CAC team, which comprised Abdulkadir Madibbo, Deputy Director; Aminu Ali Kamall, Head of ICT; and Zainab Bello, Head of Board and Public Relations Services (BPRS).

Following the introduction, Mr. Abdulkadir Madibbo spoke on behalf of the CAC delegation. He provided a brief background on the Commission, stating that it was established by the Federal Government in 1990 under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), with the mandate to regulate corporate and business operations in Nigeria.

Mr. Madibbo emphasized that as the national economy continues to evolve, the CAC has also enhanced its operations, introducing more digital tools and automation for ease of business registration. He pointed out a key concern, noting that some individuals pay as much as ₦100,000 to agents just to achieve simple registration ambitions—a cost he described as avoidable. He encouraged KASU management to engage directly with the Commission to facilitate easier access for students and staff, stating that at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), the process and charges are not the same, and lessons can be drawn from such experiences.

Also speaking during the meeting, Aminu Ali Kamall, Head of ICT at CAC, gave a brief insight into the Commission’s digital reforms and how these can align with university research and ICT development, especially in preparing students for entrepreneurial ventures and tech-based opportunities.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, expressed his appreciation for the visit and welcomed the idea of future collaboration. He highlighted the university’s growing focus on entrepreneurship, citing activities from the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) where students are already producing snacks and other small-scale goods as part of their training.

“We want our students to become real entrepreneurs, not just job seekers,” the Vice-Chancellor said, as he called on Dr. Jamila Muhammad, Director of the Entrepreneurship and Research Development Centre (ERDC), to continue driving such initiatives and to oversee coordination with the CAC moving forward.

The meeting concluded with mutual optimism for a future partnership that would support KASU students across academic, business, and digital development fronts. It was rounded off with a group photograph to commemorate the visit.
