The Kaduna State Student’s Union (KADSSU), officially launched the KADSSU-KASU Inter-Local Government Football Competition on Tuesday, August 9, 2025. The tournament, designed to promote unity, sportsmanship, and youth engagement across local government areas in Kaduna State, began with a series of entertaining matches that drew a large and enthusiastic crowd to the university’s main campus football field.
The opening match of the tournament, which kicked off at exactly 10:00 AM, featured Zaria Local Government Area taking on Kachia. It was a fast-paced encounter that saw Zaria dominate the proceedings, ultimately securing a comfortable 2-0 victory over Kachia. Their strong start was marked by disciplined defending and clinical finishing, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting competition.
At noon, Lere Local Government went head-to-head with Giwa in the second match of the day. Much like the first game, Lere also recorded a 2-0 win, showcasing solid teamwork and tactical superiority. Their ability to maintain possession and capitalize on key moments earned them a well-deserved win and a clean sheet.
The final match of the day saw Ikara take on Kajuru in a 4:00 PM kick-off. Ikara dominated the match from start to finish, putting on an impressive attacking display and cruising to a 3-0 victory. With this result, all three winning teams on the opening day, Zaria, Lere, and Ikara not only found the back of the net multiple times but also maintained clean sheets, signaling their intent to go far in the tournament.
The competition continues on Wednesday, August 10, 2025, with another exciting round of fixtures. The day will begin with Birnin Gwari facing Kudan in the 10:00 AM kick-off. Later at 12:00 noon, Jema’a will square off against Soba in what is expected to be a tightly contested encounter. The day will conclude with a late fixture at 4:00 PM between Chikun and Jaba, promising more action and drama on the field.
