Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Program Successfully Concludes

The Center for Mentorship and Career Development (CMCD) recently hosted a highly successful Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program centered on the theme “Interdisciplinary Collaborations, Mentorship, and Leadership in Academia.” The event, which took place on March 12, 2025, brought together 100 participants from various academic and professional backgrounds.

Four distinguished speakers shared their expertise and insights:

  • Prof. A. F. Abdulsalam delivered a forward-thinking presentation on “The Future of Academic Collaboration in a Digital Era,” exploring how technology is reshaping cross-institutional partnerships.
  • Mr. Solomon Barnabas Aliyu discussed “Mentorship as a Catalyst for Excellence,” highlighting practical strategies for effective mentoring relationships.
  • Prof. Hauwa Lamino Abubakar addressed crucial issues in her talk on “Women and Underrepresented Groups in Academic Leadership,” offering pathways to greater inclusion.
  • Prof. Muhammad Akaro Mainoma (Former Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi) concluded with insights on “Bridging Disciplines for Innovation,” drawing from his extensive leadership experience.

The event fostered meaningful discussions on enhancing academic collaborations and mentorship practices, with participants reporting high satisfaction with both content and networking opportunities.

One-Day Career Readiness Workshop Attracts 2,000 Students

CMCD hosted a landmark One-Day Career Readiness Workshop titled “Life After Graduation: Navigating Challenges, Exploring Career Opportunities, and Building a Path to Success,” drawing approximately 2,000 students eager to prepare for their professional futures.

The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, delivered a compelling keynote address, emphasizing that employers increasingly value practical skills, teamwork, and effective communication over academic certificates alone. She urged students to develop these crucial competencies alongside their formal education.

In his remarks, Kaduna State University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, reaffirmed the institution’s competitiveness and unwavering commitment to academic excellence. The Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Mohammed Sani Bello, praised KASU’s leadership across several disciplines and commended CMCD for its role in guiding students toward meaningful career paths.

Distinguished attendees included the Emir of Zazzau, HRH Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, represented by Barde Kerarriyan Zazzau, Arc. Haruna Bamalli, alongside industry experts and officers from various security agencies. The workshop provided students with practical insights into post-graduation challenges and opportunities, equipping them with strategies for success in today’s competitive job market.

Center For Mentorship and Career Development Successfully Pairs 140 Mentees with Esteemed Mentors

The Center for Mentorship and Career Development has successfully paired 140 mentees with accomplished mentors from prestigious higher education institutions both within the country and abroad. This initiative is designed to provide mentees with expert guidance in critical areas such as research development, leadership, and career advancement.

By fostering strong mentor-mentee relationships, the program aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, helping young professionals navigate their academic and professional paths with confidence. Mentees will benefit from personalized advice, career insights, and leadership training, which are essential to their growth and future success.

This effort is part of the center’s ongoing mission to empower students and young professionals, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to excel in competitive academic and professional environments. The successful pairing of these 140 mentees marks a significant milestone in the center’s commitment to supporting future leaders and researchers.
