Muhammad Lawal Abubakar is a dedicated academic and researcher in the field of Geography, currently serving as a Lecturer II at Kaduna State University. His expertise spans natural resource management, climate change, GIS, remote sensing, and environmental management. He holds a PhD in Natural Resource Management and Climate Change from Bayero University, Kano, where his research focused on the impacts of climate variability and long-term habitat fragmentation in the Niger River Basin. He also earned an M.Sc. in Geography from Kaduna State University, with research on the vulnerability of wetlands to climate change and anthropogenic activities.
Abubakar has a rich teaching experience, covering undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to climatology, GIS, remote sensing, and cartography. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects, contributing to the academic growth of his students. His research has been published in prominent journals, and he frequently presents at national conferences.
Outside academia, Abubakar is an active member of professional bodies such as the Association of Nigerian Geographers and the Nigerian Meteorological Society. He also volunteers with various organizations, including Radio France International and the Savannah Crane Relief Foundation, focusing on environmental and disaster risk management issues in Nigeria.
