A registered and academic pharmacist with twelve (12) years of university teaching experience, specializing in training pharmacy students at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and Kaduna State University, Kaduna. My research spans across classical pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, and traditional medicine, with a particular focus on the documentation and transformation of traditional medical practices to align with global best practices, addressing the healthcare needs of our society and the world at large. I have served as an acting departmental examination officer, an acting Head of Department, and I am currently serving as the Head of Department Pharmacognosy and Drug Development
I was born in Kajuru into the Sunka family, the son of the late Chief Imam of Kajuru, Alhaji Iliyasu Adamu, and Hajiya Sa’adatu Adamu (Bakuwa), who was the daughter of the late Sarkin Kajuru, Alhaji Adamu Muhammadu Gani. My early education began at the Quranic and Islamic School in Unguwar Liman Sunka, followed by L.E.A. Primary School, Kajuru. Between 1990 and 1999, I attended Government Technical College, Kajuru, before completing my secondary education at the esteemed Barewa College, Zaria, in 2002 with excellent academic results.
In 2002, I gained admission to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU), where I earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) degree in 2010. I completed my mandatory one-year internship at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, Zamfara State, from 2010 to 2011 and fulfilled my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) requirements between 2011 and 2012.
