Biography

Dr. Bonet Rikichi Atiyong is a distinguished scholar and Reader in the Department of Geography and Sustainability Studies, Kaduna State University, Kaduna. He specializes in Soil Science and Environmental Resources Management, with extensive expertise in Environmental Sustainability, Agricultural Management, and Quantitative Techniques in Geography. Dr. Atiyong is deeply passionate about promoting a sustainable environment, emphasizing that human progress must not compromise future generations’ ability to thrive. His professional philosophy centers on the belief that quality education and skill acquisition are the foundations for societal advancement and environmental preservation. An alumnus of the Kaduna State College of Education Gidan Waya, University of Jos (BSc, MSc), and University of Ilorin (PhD), Dr. Atiyong has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and environmental policy. He is a registered and licensed environmental officer, integrating practical experience with academic excellence. He has supervised numerous MSc and PhD theses addressing critical issues such as soil salinity, groundwater quality, erosion control, and land-use change across Northern Nigeria. His commitment to environmental consciousness, academic mentorship, and sustainable practices continues to shape future scholars and policies in environmental management and sustainability studies.
