The College of Continuing Education (CCE), Kaduna State University organized a one-day workshop for part-time academic staff of the College. Themed “Terms of Engagement and Effective Use of E-Learning Managements System (eLMS)”, the retreat was organized with the purpose of familiarising staff of the institution with use of the innovative learning management system in advancing academic service delivery. The event held on 16th September, 2025 at the multipurpose hall of the main Campus of the University.

Delivering the welcome address, Provost of the College, Dr. Jibril Lawal, noted that the university is entering its third strategic stage of development, one rooted in identity, equality, and continuing education. HeE stressed that digital platforms now underpin teaching, academic collaborations, and administration, in line with new National Universities Commission (NUC) guidelines on e-learning, which also form part of Nigeria’s National Digital Learning and ICT in Education policies.

He emphasised the vital role of CCE’s academic workforce, particularly part-time staff, as key drivers of innovation and structured learning delivery. By embracing global best practices and harnessing technology, KASU aims to expand opportunities, reduce subcultures of violence within institutions, and build a more engaging and lifelong learning community. The orientation, officials said, is designed to familiarise participants with the university’s academic processes, digital platforms, and professional expectations, ensuring that education delivery keeps pace with global trends.

Declaring the retreat open, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof. Yushau I Ango, commended the vision that expanded access to education for workers and non-traditional students, and called for stronger staffing, strict dedication to teaching, and structured blended learning. He noted that lecturers will now be drawn mainly from within the university to uphold its values, stressing that the college represents a key pillar in KASU’s growth into a comprehensive multi-arm university.

Delivering her goodwill message, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategy, Innovation & Service Delivery, Prof. Helen Afang Andow emphasised that true development is about people, creativity and collaboration rather than systems alone. She congratulated participants for their role in expanding opportunities and building platforms for continuous learning, urging them to act with integrity and open communication to make the college a model of excellence and a beacon of progress.
Several presentations were delivered by resource persons from within the University. These include:
· Ethical Issues in Teaching and Academic Integrity – Prof. Muhammad Bashir Aliyu, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, KASU
