KASU Vice Chancellor Visits KASU FM Studio After Renovation

In a bid to encourage practical learning and media innovation, the Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, paid a courtesy visit to KASU FM to inspect the newly renovated studio facilities.

The visit took place on Tuesday, 6th August 2025, with the Vice Chancellor accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Muhammad Bashir Ali,  the Deputy Vice Chancellor, 

(Strategy, Innovation and Service Delivery), Prof. Helen Afang Andow and the Director, Centre for Digital Divide and Social Informatics, Prof. Ayodele B. Joseph.

Upon arrival, the Vice Chancellor and his entourage were warmly received by the Station Manager, Ummah Haliru Yahaya, who conducted a comprehensive tour of the renovated areas of the radio station.

During the inspection, Prof. Musa commended the improvements made and emphasized the need to involve students more actively in the day-to-day operations of the studio. He suggested that students should be given the opportunity to handle the studio operations under the guidance of experienced staff members, in order to enhance their practical knowledge and media skills.

He further recommended that the station diversify its content by producing short videos to be shared on YouTube and other social media platforms. According to him, this strategy would not only increase the station’s online visibility and followers but could also become a source of revenue generation for the university media house.

In addition, Prof. Musa called for the furnishing and aesthetic enhancement of the studio. He urged the station’s management to come up with innovative ideas on how to beautify and better equip the space to meet modern broadcasting standards.

The Vice Chancellor also expressed concern about the current state of the university’s television studio. He requested a comprehensive list of equipment and resources required to revive and upgrade the TV studio for effective use.

The visit concluded with a group photograph session, capturing the memorable event and reinforcing the university management’s commitment to supporting media and communication development within the institution.
