Association Of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) mentors KASU Students on Academic Excellence

APWEN Kaduna Chapter commemorated International Women’s Day 2026 with a mentorship and engagement program for engineering students at the Faculty of Engineering, Kaduna State University (KASU).


In her opening remarks, the Chapter Chairman, Engr. Bilkisu Danjuma, encouraged students to remain focused and resilient in their academic journey while highlighting the importance of mentorship and supporting women in engineering.

The Vice Chairman, Engr. Dr. Asma’u Hamdana, in her general mentorship talk, urged the students to study diligently and engage with professional bodies such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and its divisions in order to access mentors within their specific engineering disciplines.
The interactive session that followed was lively and engaging, with students asking insightful questions which were addressed by the APWEN team. Representing the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Ibrahim commended APWEN Kaduna Chapter for the initiative, encouraged the students to remain resilient, and highlighted opportunities available to female engineering graduates.


The team later held a special engagement with the female students, encouraging them to remain confident in their pursuit of engineering careers, while tokens were presented to students who volunteered to serve in the APWEN Collegiate EXCO and those who actively participated during the session.
