The Christian Community in Campus, Kaduna State University (KASU), organised its Beginning of the Year Thanksgiving Fellowship on Thursday, 15 January 2026. The programme brought together Christian staff of the university in an atmosphere of gratitude, prayer, and fellowship as they committed the new year into God’s hands.

The first thanksgiving session was led by Prof. Cyril Afuwai. He thanked God for the gift of a new year and prayed for a productive and successful year for the university. He offered prayers for the principal officers, staff, and students, asking for God’s grace, direction, favour, healing, and provision. Prayers were also made for families and loved ones, with a declaration that the plans of the enemy would not prevail throughout the year.

The second thanksgiving session, which focused on safety and good health, was led by Mrs. Chat Danjuma. She thanked God for His healing upon staff and students, for the preservation of life from the previous year into the new one, and for the overall well-being of the KASU community. She also appreciated God for His faithfulness in the successful completion of the last academic year and committed the new academic year to God, praying that it would be a great and fruitful one for all.
Intercessory prayers were also offered, committing the plans and goals of the year to God and praying for diligence, focus, and success for every member of the university community.

A brief charge was delivered on the theme of divine blessings and favour that flow from thanksgiving and praise to God, with a Bible reading taken from Luke chapter 17, verses 11 to 19.
The programme further featured an update from the Building Committee on the progress of the proposed Christian Community in Campus KASU building project.

The fellowship concluded with closing remarks and the benediction delivered by Prof. Helen Afang Andow, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategy, Innovation, and Service Delivery.
