KASU Hosts Landmark International Conference on Green Energy, Calls for Stronger Partnerships to Drive Nigeria’s Sustainable Future

Kaduna State University (KASU), through its Centre for Energy and Environmental Strategy Research (CEESR), convened its maiden International Conference on Green Energy and Environmental Sustainability, on December 9th 2025, bringing together academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to chart pathways toward Nigeria’s energy security and climate resilience. The event, themed around exploring renewable solutions to Nigeria’s energy crisis, drew participation from key stakeholders and experts committed to promoting sustainable development through research, innovation, and collaboration.

In his welcome remarks, the Chief Host and Director of CEESR, Dr. Kabir Isyaku, described the conference as a timely intervention at a period when Nigeria faces mounting energy and environmental challenges. He noted that renewable sources such as solar, wind, biomass, and hydropower present scalable, practical solutions capable of transforming the nation’s energy landscape. Dr. Isyaku reaffirmed the Centre’s mission to advance evidence-based research and announced plans to introduce new academic programmes in Energy Management and Environmental Sustainability to build capacity for future leaders in the sector.

Chairman of the occasion and former Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, commended the University for organizing the conference and urged it to strengthen ties with relevant government institutions. He emphasized the importance of proper protocol in academic engagements and called for greater inclusion of ministries and agencies in future events.
