Kaduna State University (KASU) once again demonstrated its growing reputation in global academia as Dr. Fatima Kabir, Director of the Distance Learning Centre (DLC), was invited as a Keynote Speaker at the 6th Annual International Conference on Online, Digital, Adult and Distance Learning (ODDAL), hosted by the University of Nairobi, Kenya, from October 21 – 22, 2025.
Themed “Reshaping Flexible Learning in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” the conference formed part of the University of Nairobi’s 8th Research Week, under the broader theme “From Discovery to Impact: Advancing Research and Innovation in a Shifting Global Landscape.”
Dr. Kabir’s keynote address explored the evolving dynamics of digital and distance learning in Africa, emphasizing AI-driven educational innovation, inclusion, and institutional transformation. Her participation positioned KASU among leading institutions shaping discourse on flexible learning, particularly in the post-pandemic and AI-enabled education era.

The conference brought together global scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from renowned institutions such as The Open University (UK), Athabasca University (Canada), and Kenya’s State Department for TVET. Sessions covered topics including Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), digital wellness, LMS-based e-learning, and adult literacy in the AI age.

KASU’s representation at this prestigious event not only underscores its commitment to advancing distance and digital education but also reaffirms its role as a trailblazer in educational innovation and global collaboration.
