Kaduna State University (KASU) has pledged full support for a national research survey assessing the training of health workers across Nigeria, following a courtesy visit by a high-powered delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), and the Federal Ministry of Health. The delegation, which visited the University on Wednesday, 17th September 2025, briefed management on the study, which is being coordinated by the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and will cover all six geo-political zones of the country.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yushau Ibrahim Ango, described the initiative as timely and strategic, noting that the findings would provide valuable insights to guide health policy and planning nationwide. He commended researchers in Community Medicine for their leading role in the project and reaffirmed KASU’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to national development.
The University Registrar, in her remarks, welcomed the team warmly and underscored the importance of the study, stressing that it would not only benefit KASU but also have long-term positive effects on Nigeria’s healthcare system. She added that the university remains open to partnerships that strengthen its academic and research profile.

As part of the collaboration, the research team will work closely with the Provost of KASU’s College of Medicine to facilitate data collection, stakeholder engagement, and academic input. The visit, officials said, reflects growing recognition of KASU’s role as a hub for medical education and research in Northern Nigeria.
The survey is expected to identify gaps and opportunities in the training of health professionals, ensuring that Nigeria’s health workforce is better positioned to meet current and future challenges. With the active participation of institutions like KASU, stakeholders expressed optimism that the outcome of the project would significantly improve standards in medical education and healthcare delivery across the country.
