The Department of Hausa Nigerian Languages and Linguistics,Kaduna State University KASU organised virtual program to commemorate the world Hausa day celebration with a theme ‘Hausa Language and People in the 21st Century’.
The event which took place on the Tuesday, 26th August 2025 was an inspiring and intellectually enriching event that brought together renowned Hausa scholars from around the globe, the event served as a vibrant platform for academic exchange, cultural celebration, and global collaboration in the promotion of Hausa language, literature, and identity.
The success of this landmark gathering was made possible by the unwavering support of the Vice Chancellor oth University Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa.
Dr. Samaila Mohammed Mijinyawa, Head of the Department of Nigerian Languages and Linguistics, whose coordination and leadership were central to the event’s success.
Their contributions ensured that the event not only met but exceeded expectations in terms of planning, turnout, and academic impact.

Dr. Li, Lecturer of Hausa at the University of Foreign Studies, Beijing, China, Dr. Umma Aliyu Musa, Hausa Lecturer at the University of Hamburg, Germany, Prof.Ibrahim Hamza, historian and Hausa diaspora scholar from York University, Canada, specializing in the Hausa communities in Brazil, Dr. Muhammad Nabil, Lecturer of Hausa at Cairo University, Egypt, Prof. Qassim Bilal, Sebha University, Libya, Professor Nakamura, cultural anthropologist and Hausa scholar from Japan
Their presence underscored the global academic relevance of Hausa language studies and highlighted the growing international interest in the socio-linguistic and cultural dynamics of the Hausa-speaking world.
Equally noteworthy was the strong presence of Nigerian Hausa scholars, whose contributions enriched the dialogue and anchored it in local expertise and experience. The event was well-attended by Faculty members from across departments, Students of Hausa and related fields, Independent researchers, cultural advocates, and traditional stakeholders

The 2025 World Hausa Day at KASU was a resounding success, a celebration of language, identity, scholarship, and unity. It reaffirmed the central role of Hausa in global academic discourse and cultural heritage, and it created new pathways for international collaboration and linguistic development.
