KASU Hosts Executive Training in Collaboration with Institute of Registered Administrative Managers of Nigeria (IRAMN)

Kaduna State University (KASU), in collaboration with the Institute of Registered Administrative Managers of Nigeria (IRAMN), on Tuesday, 19th August 2025, held an Executive Training programme themed “Punctuality and Welfare as Twin Factors of Productivity Enhancement: Leading with Discipline, Thriving with Compassion.” The event took place at the 500-Seater Pharmacy Hall, KASU Main Campus, with the participation of Principal Officers, Provosts, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Units and Departments.

The programme, convened by Dr. Bashariya B. Mustapha, Director, Center for Mentorship and Career Development (CMCD), was aimed at equipping administrators with knowledge and skills to drive institutional growth through discipline, punctuality, and welfare.

The session began with a welcome address which was delivered by Prof. Abdu Sadiq Garba, the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, who commended the collaboration with IRAMN as a step toward strengthening administrative efficiency in the university.

In her remarks, the Registrar of KASU, Samira Balarabe, Esq., welcomed participants warmly and stressed the importance of the training, describing it as a milestone for establishing stronger citizenship and responsibility among staff. She also offered prayers for a fruitful collaboration between KASU and IRAMN.

The first paper presentation, delivered by Dr. Tunde Jatto, f.inst.AM (IRAMN Fellow), focused on “Critical Issues in Punctuality and Productivity in the Nigerian Public Service.” He addressed challenges such as “African Time,” pre- and post-training evaluations, factors affecting punctuality, and strategies to enhance discipline and productivity in public institutions.

A mentorship spotlight session followed, anchored by Dr. Musa Zubairu Usman, a former World Bank Consultant, who discussed “The Role of Mentorship in Strengthening Academic Leadership and Administrative Excellence.” He highlighted the significance of leadership, guidance, and mentorship in addressing institutional challenges, while stressing the importance of mentors correcting issues with understanding and compassion.

The second paper presentation, by Dr. Oboigbe Victor, f.inst.AM (Registrar, IRAMN), explored “The Impact of Motivation on Punctuality and Welfare in a Work Space.” His presentation highlighted employee motivation, welfare, organizational efficiency, and the role of supportive environments in enhancing staff productivity and institutional quality. He also emphasized digital literacy, streamlined processes, and collaborative leadership as crucial elements of modern university administration.

Discussions and feedback sessions allowed participants to share insights, with emphasis placed on collaboration between KASU’s Center for Mentorship and Career Development and the university’s ICT Directorate, as highlighted by Mrs. Amina M. Mustapha.

In her closing remarks, Prof. Helen Afang Andow, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategy, Innovation and Service Delivery), expressed appreciation to participants and IRAMN for their commitment, noting that the training underscored KASU’s dedication to continuous learning, excellence, and effective mentorship.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bashariya B. Mustapha, who commended the contributions of all stakeholders and expressed optimism about future initiatives.

Through this collaboration with IRAMN, KASU continues its march toward excellence, focusing on emerging technologies, upskilling, reskilling, and strengthening mentorship and leadership for institutional growth.
