KASU Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Holds Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kaduna State University (KASU), on Tuesday, 19th August, 2025, held its 10th Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony for its graduating students. The event, which took place at the University’s 1000-Seater Auditorium, marked a historic milestone as the faculty graduated sixty students this year.

In his welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Musa Garba, warmly received parents, guardians, and other distinguished guests. He described this year’s induction as one of a kind due to the number of graduating students, while appreciating the university’s management, especially the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, for his unwavering support to the faculty.

Delivering the opening remarks on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Yusha’u I. Ango, commended the faculty for its dedication to mentoring the students from their first day in the university to the point of graduation. He described the ceremony as a remarkable event and charged the graduands to be worthy ambassadors of the university wherever they go.

Representing the Registrar of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Dr. Anthony Idoko congratulated the new graduates and conveyed the Council President’s appreciation to parents and guardians for their support. He emphasized that the oath-taking and induction is a mandatory step for becoming registered pharmacists in Nigeria.

Dr. Idoko urged the graduands to give their best during the mandatory one-year internship programme, reminding them of the ethical codes that guide the pharmacy profession. He advised them to uphold the highest professional and moral standards in dealing with patients, colleagues, employers, and the general public. He further cautioned them against the “register-and-go” syndrome, stressing that such practices could tarnish the image of the profession. He also warned against all forms of dishonesty in their professional careers.

The highlight of the event was the administration of the professional oath to the graduands by the Dean of the Faculty. Certificates were subsequently presented to the inductees.

For the first time in the history of the faculty, awards and prizes were presented to outstanding students. Awards were given to the best graduating students across all departments in the faculty. Notably, the DVC Academic, Prof. Yusha’u I. Ango, presented a personal award to the overall best graduating student in memory of the third Vice Chancellor of KASU, late Prof. Ezzeldin Mukhtar Abdurahman. Similarly, Pharm. Obande Adams, head of a Tamar and Pharez pharmaceutical company in Kaduna State, awarded a cash prize of ₦250,000 to the overall best graduating student.
