Kaduna State University’s College of Humanities, Education and Law held its 4th International Conference on Monday, 4th August 2025, at the university’s 1000-Seater Auditorium. The theme of the conference was “Knowledge, Academia and Development in the 21st Century: Multi-Disciplinary Approaches.”
The conference brought together academics, researchers, staff and students, to explore the pivotal role of knowledge systems and interdisciplinary collaboration in driving sustainable development in the modern era.



In his opening remarks, the host and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Gaius Jatau, warmly welcomed participants, particularly those who journeyed from outside Kaduna. He assured all guests of their safety and comfort throughout their stay. He emphasized the significance of the conference theme, noting that “in today’s complex world, no single discipline holds all the answers. The humanities, education, and law must work in synergy to provide nuanced and practical responses to national and global challenges.”
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, was Prof. A.K. Babajo, Provost of the College of Humanities, Education and Law. In his welcome address, Prof. Babajo expressed delight at the impressive turnout and acknowledged the critical contributions of scholars in shaping developmental discourse. He stated, “This conference reaffirms KASU’s commitment to promoting intellectual excellence and multi-disciplinary research that addresses real-world problems.” He officially declared the conference open and encouraged participants to use the platform for impactful dialogue and collaboration.



A highlight of the event was the keynote lecture by renowned scholar, Prof. Umar H.D. Danfulani from the University of Jos. His citation was read by Dr. Jemimah Dan’azumi Gada, who outlined his academic journey, accolades, and institutional affiliations.
Prof. Danfulani’s keynote address emphasized the enduring relevance of the humanities in nation-building. He argued that knowledge production must be anchored in people-centered and culturally grounded approaches, with the humanities serving as a bridge between tradition and innovation. He advocated for greater collaboration between academia and industry, urging institutions to pursue research that offers practical and transformative solutions.
Prof. Solomon Aboh-Oduma provided a thoughtful summary of the keynote address, appreciating Prof. Danfulani for a stimulating and visionary presentation. He also moderated an engaging questions and answers session, which sparked robust discussions among attendees.



In closing, Dr. Bashir Rabiu, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, the university management, the Provost, keynote speaker, organizers, faculty, students, and all participants for their dedication and contributions. He commended the collective efforts that made the conference a resounding success and wished everyone safe travels.
The event concluded with group photographs to commemorate the occasion, capturing the spirit of unity and academic engagement that defined the conference.
