The Mass Communication Department at Kaduna State University boasts a state-of-the-art TV Broadcasting Studio and campus radio station, KASU FM 98.5 (The Voice of Peace and Unity). Our experienced staff manned the production and transmission facilities in the different studios and partake in the multitasking role of practical training with cutting-edge editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut), High-performance computers and storage capacity, audio-visual Equipment, Professional cameras, lighting, and sound equipment for field productions.
THE LIBRARY
The Department of Broadcasting boasts a dynamic library and knowledge resources that support academic excellence, offering students access to the latest information and media resources.
The library houses over five thousand volumes of print books and journals covering broadcasting, media studies, journalism, public relations, and related fields. It also offers a wide range of Nigerian and international publications, including newspapers, magazines, and academic journals. In addition, students have access to over five thousand eBooks and e-journals related to broadcasting and mass communication, enhancing their research and learning experience.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
A key aspect of Kaduna State University’s strategic initiatives is community engagement, recognizing the crucial role of stakeholders in advancing Mass Communication. The Department of Broadcasting actively contributes to community development through various initiatives, including public awareness campaigns on social issues, outreach programs promoting media career opportunities in schools, collaborations with local media houses and organizations, and capacity-building workshops for aspiring media practitioners.
