The Department of Islamic Studies at Kaduna State University is dedicated to advancing knowledge in Islamic values, principles and cultural heritage. Established to address the dynamic needs of contemporary society, our programme emphasizes moral, intellectual and economic development through an understanding of Islam’s foundational sources. We aim to equip students with the faith base knowledge and skills to provide guidance in religious, social, educational, political, and economic aspects of life. Graduates are prepared for roles in educational institutions, judiciary services, foreign affairs, and more, fostering unity, peace, and development both locally and globally.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

The Department have fully accredited undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes fully by the National Universities Commission. Our course offer students:

Research Focus

Our department is committed to impactful research that applies Islamic teachings to current societal needs. We examine guidance offered by the teachings of Surahs in the Qur’an and the contemporary survey tools to tackle pressing challenges in our community.
Recently, the department studied Surah Al-Fatiha, focusing on its lessons in faith and conduct, and Surah An-Nisa, exploring themes of justice and social responsibility. Another project investigated the Challenges Faced by Children of Divorce in Kaduna, offering insights and practical support measures.
Through these studies, we aim to blend Islamic scholarship with practical applications, enhancing both personal growth and societal well-being.

The Department organise annual conference and participate in series of international conferences and workshop in addition to tutorials and education study tour to enhance scholarship and instill research culture.
