Welcome to the Department of Building at Kaduna State University.
Since its establishment in 2019, our department has been dedicated to providing a high-quality education in Building Sciences and Technology, designed to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to excel in the dynamic construction industry both locally and globally. The Department of Building is at the heart of environmental sciences, focusing on all facets of building construction, management, and maintenance, including essential building services such as electrical, mechanical, and water systems.
Read MoreThe Department of Building Kaduna State University was founded in 2019 under the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. The B.Sc. Building programme began at the start of the 2019/2020 academic session. The department commenced with Prof. Nghai Ezekiel Suleman as its pioneer Head of Department and four academic staff members.
The establishment of the department was part of the university’s broader expansion aimed at addressing national developmental needs through quality education in the built environment disciplines. The department has since been committed to producing graduates with strong technical, managerial, and professional competence in building sciences, capable of competing locally and internationally.

The research activities in the Department of Building are geared towards advancing knowledge, technology, and management practices in the construction industry. The department equips students and staff with skills to carry out research that addresses contemporary challenges in building construction, operation, maintenance, and deconstruction.

Industrial training and the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) further complement these efforts by providing practical exposure to real-world construction environments.
