KASU – “Drug abuse is a significant issue both locally and globally, demanding our highest level of attention” ~Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa

On Wednesday, 26th June 2024, the Kaduna State University Drug-Free Club paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa. The primary purpose of the visit as disclosed by the president of the club, Comrade Courage Kantiyok, was to formally present the club’s intentions towards promoting healthy living among students and reducing the use of illicit drugs and substances. The club aims to foster positive behavioural change within the university community.

In addition, Mr. Goodheart A. Sheyin, the Patron of the Drug-Free Club, solicited the university’s support in promoting a drug-free university and community.

Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, while emphasizing the importance of the club, expressed his concerns about the increasing problem of drug abuse, noting that it is a significant issue both locally and internationally. He encouraged the club to continue to build on their good work and also tasked them to come up with programs that the university could come in and support.

Dr. Babangida Umar Dangani, the University Librarian, equally underlined the importance of a drug-free society, stressing how the problem directly or indirectly affects everyone in the community.

The visit by the Kaduna State University drug-free club served as a significant step in the fight against drug abuse both on and off campus.

Also present at the meeting were the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Auwal Farouk Abdusalam, the University’s Public Relations Officer, Adamu Nuhu Bargo, SA to the VC, Abdulazeez Aliyu Idris, Mrs. Bilkisu Lukman and Abdullahi Tabari from the PR Unit.
