KASU – Advancing Sustainability Practices Through Research

In a strategic move to enhance sustainability practices and promote research excellence, Kaduna State University (KASU) has entered into a strategic partnership with Yahumba International Resources Limited (YIRL). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday, 23rd July 2024, at KASU’s main campus.

This collaboration aims to advance private sector research in climate-smart primary production, focusing on areas such as carbon credits, environmental economics, and climate resilience. The partnership will drive impactful research and foster innovative solutions in these critical areas.

Representing the Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi I Musa during the signing ceremony, Prof. Helen Afang Andow, DVC Strategy, Innovation, and Service Delivery, emphasized KASU’s commitment to fast-tracking collaborations that promote research and environmentally sustainable practices.

Mr. Yahaya Goje, CEO of YIRL, expressed his company’s dedication to the partnership, highlighting the mutual benefits it promises. In addition, the head of Administration for YIRL, Mr Bodam Dale Bagaiya reiterated that the company will equally set up the framework for the monitoring and evaluation of the project to ensure its success.

The collaboration is expected to bolster research capabilities and attract investments in sustainability projects, significantly benefiting the environment.

Also present at the signing was the Acting Director of University Advancement, Mal. Usman Tabari, and the head of KASU legal unit, Barr. Abdulmutallab Idris.
