Andow Dr. Helen Afang

The Entrepreneurship Research and Development Centre [ERDC] commenced activities in March 2012 in accordance with the directive from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in establishing Entrepreneurship Centers in all universities in the country. The Centre is to undertake a tripartite function of training, establishing businesses and also promoting innovations through research for the institution. The KASU-ERDC is governed by an Advisory Board with the Vice-Chancellor sitting as the chair and headed by a Director, Andow Dr. Helen Afang.

The vision of ERDC is to conduct research, training and development of entrepreneurship skills among Youth in Kaduna State and its environs as well as the Nation in general.

The mission of ERDC is To empower Youth in Kaduna State and the nation in general so as to become wealth creators through developing skills, knowledge and channeling their creativity..

  • Imparting entrepreneurial skills.
  • Creating and promoting entrepreneurial opportunities and awareness.
  • Stimulating the development and growth of entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
  1. ACADEMIC: Teaching Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on Entrepreneurship and Innovation courses.
  2. TRADE AND SKILLS ACQUISITION CENTRE [TSAC] is an arm of the Entrepreneurship Centre of the Kaduna State University dedicated towards trade and skill
    development of the teeming students of the University and that of the entire state.
  3. PARTNERSHIP AND COLLABORATIONS: The Centre engaged on various partnership and collaborations with National and International Institutions as well as NGOs.
  4. CONFERENCES/WORKSHOPS: The Entrepreneurship Research and Development Centre [ERDC], Kaduna State University is in collaboration with other national and
    international consultants and have facilitated various training, workshops and conferences in the centre. The ERDC has impacted a lot of knowledge to
    a number of youth on entrepreneurial training such as Kaduna State Volunteerism Service (KADEVS), International Women Day workshops among others.
    The ERDC-KASU have built and produced entrepreneurs in diverse areas: ICT, networking, electronic marketing etc and have help micro businesses to grow and expand.
  5. NETWORK OF AFRICAN STUDENTS ENTERPRENEURS (NASE): The Network of African Students Entrepreneurs {NASE} was established as a non-profit organization for students
    and recent graduates of tertiary institutions that seek to create support for Graduate and Student Entrepreneurs across Africa and Diaspora, the ERDC-KASU was unanimously
    chosen as African Secretariat for NASE. NASE KASU branch has launched its official website (www.nase-kasu.com.ng).
