The event explored AI-driven productivity tools and the importance of cybersecurity in safeguarding university data. \nSession 1: Unlocking Productivity with AI\nProf. Abdulraheem Giwa from Ahmadu Bello University presented practical AI tools that can streamline administrative processes\, boost research productivity\, and improve decision-making\, empowering both staff and students in the university system. \nSession 2: Cybersecurity Awareness for the Workplace\nCybersecurity specialist Maryam Shuaibu Aliyu emphasized the importance of protecting personal and institutional data. She shared key strategies for safeguarding passwords\, recognizing phishing attempts\, and responding to data breaches\, equipping participants with the knowledge to mitigate digital risks. \nConclusion\nThe webinar successfully highlighted the role of AI and cybersecurity in modernizing academic and administrative practices at KASU\, providing participants with valuable insights to enhance their professional practices and ensure data security in the digital age.

SUMMARY:SUCCESSFUL TWO-DAY ORIENTATION FOR NEW AND EXISTING STAFF AT KADUNA STATE UNIVERSITY
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Mentorship and Career Development (CMCD)\, in collaboration with the Registry Department\, successfully hosted a two-day orientation and re-orientation programme for newly recruited and existing staff on 22nd and 23rd July 2025 at the University’s main campus. The event\, which attracted an impressive turnout of over a thousand staff members\, aimed to align staff with the University’s core values\, enhance professional growth\, promote mentorship\, and foster institutional ethics and productivity. \nKey highlights included presentations from university leadership and prominent staff\, including Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa\, the Vice-Chancellor\, and Prof. Helen Afang Andow\, who outlined the University’s Future Vision and Strategic Plan. Sessions covered a wide range of topics such as workplace ethics\, digital literacy\, career advancement\, and financial literacy. Breakout sessions tailored to academic\, administrative\, and technical staff provided an opportunity for deeper engagement on role-specific challenges and professional development strategies. \nIn her opening remarks\, Barr. Samira Balarabe\, the Registrar\, emphasized the importance of staff aligning with the University’s core values of integrity\, discipline\, and unity. The event was further strengthened by the leadership of Dr. Bashariya Baba Mustapha\, the Director of CMCD\, who expressed gratitude for the active participation and insightful contributions made by both the facilitators and attendees. \nFeedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive\, with many praising the relevance and impact of the programme. To support ongoing learning\, the CMCD also distributed PowerPoint slides from the facilitators’ sessions to all attendees for further study. \nThe event concluded with a group photograph\, symbolizing unity and a shared commitment to the University’s mission of excellence\, collaboration\, and professional growth. \n  \n

The event provided researchers with insights on how AI tools\, particularly AnswerThis\, can enhance literature reviews\, identify research gaps\, and improve overall productivity throughout the research journey. \nKey Highlights from the Webinar\n\nAI for Literature Reviews: Participants learned how AI can aid in constructing well-organized literature reviews and creating a detailed research plan.\nCitation Mapping: AnswerThis’ citation mapping feature visualizes author networks\, allowing researchers to track key publications and gaps in their field.\nIdentifying Research Gaps: The webinar explored how AI tools can highlight areas lacking scholarly attention\, guiding researchers toward impactful research.\nPractical Demonstration: A live demonstration of the AnswerThis platform was conducted\, followed by an interactive Q&A where participants engaged directly with the tool.\n\nAI Proficiency Certificates\nAs part of the collaboration\, Ayush Garg\, Founder of AnswerThis\, issued AI Proficiency Certificates to all webinar participants.
