Administrative Roles and Responsibilities

The Directorate of ICT plays a strategic role in advancing the university’s mission by driving digital innovation, strengthening ICT infrastructure, and supporting academic and administrative excellence through smart technology integration. For nearly twenty years, the directorate has been instrumental in shaping KASU’s digital landscape, contributing to its rapid growth and recognition as one of Nigeria’s most dynamic and sought-after state universities. Over time, the university has broadened its ICT-enabled teaching, research, and collaborative efforts both nationally and internationally, establishing a strong reputation for impactful partnerships and cutting-edge digital initiatives.

Intra and Inter Agency Relations

Functions of Intra and Inter Agency Relations Unit

Collaborate with Linkages unit in supporting and enhancing improvement activities in the educational foundation areas like staff training/retraining and development, library development and special education programmes
Participate with relevant units in fostering cross fertilization of ideas in interdisciplinary coordination and collaboration as the need to maximize the scarce resources that are becoming more expensive and more specialized.
Cultivate good relationship with internal units and also external bodies to develop and maintain quality assurance mechanism standard

Quality Assurance Unit

Functions of Quality Assurance Unit

Coordination of accreditation and resource assessment visits to the University by the National University Commission as well as serving as secretariat of the Central Accreditation Committee.
Coordination of accreditation and advisory visits to the University by professional bodies.
Coordination of registration exercise of students as well as serving as secretariat of the Verification Committee of newly admitted students.
Provision of requirements for student admission and graduation, minimum and maximum credit load for students, minimum work load for staff, staff to student ratios for various disciplines, staff mix, etc. as stipulated in the NUC Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards.
Scrutiny of staff list vis-à-vis lecture timetable to determine requirements for sabbatical/visiting/part-time lecturers before the commencement of every academic session to ensure equitable distribution of workload among staff.

Program Planning Unit

Functions of Program Planning Unit

Compilation of the University Annual Report at the end of every academic session to provide firsthand information on the University to the university community and general public.
Collection, collation and analysis of statistical information on staff and student for each program, department, faculty and other non-academic units for planning purposes and management decisions.
Coordination of registration exercise of students at faculty of Arts.
Participate in the University Development or Rolling Plans, Annual Budget and other special reports.

Developing and implementing strategies to improve the University’s ranking performance: The Deputy Director of University Ranking is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to improve KASU’s position in national and international rankings. This may involve developing partnerships with other universities, enhancing research output, improving the quality of teaching, and improving the university’s reputation. Gathering and analysing data: The Deputy Director of University Ranking is responsible for gathering data on KASU’s performance in key areas such as research, teaching, internationalisation, and student experience. This also involves analysis of this data to identify areas for improvement and to benchmark the university against other institutions.

Functions of Data Management Unit

Database Management: Developing and maintaining databases or data management systems to store, organize, and retrieve academic data efficiently. Managing data security and access permissions to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Data Collection and Verification: Collecting relevant academic data from various sources, such as student records, faculty information, course details, and enrolment figures. Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the data through verification and validation processes.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analysing the collected data to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to academic planning. Generating reports and presenting data-driven recommendations to stakeholders, including university administrators, academic departments, and faculty members.
Academic Program Evaluation: Assisting in evaluating existing academic programs by analysing student performance, enrolment data, and graduation rates. Collaborating with the academic departments to identify areas for improvement and recommending strategies to enhance program effectiveness.
