About the Department

Transforming Agriculture, Empowering Communities

Establishment: The Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development is one of the integral departments within the Faculty of Agriculture, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Kaduna State University which itself began operations in 2004 at the Kafanchan campus.

Mandate & Philosophy: The department is rooted in a philosophy of “Transforming Agriculture, Empowering Communities,” emphasizing sustainable agricultural practices, food security and rural development.
The Curriculum encompasses both theoretical and experiential learning, including participatory extension methods, rural sociology, and rural development planning. The goal is to prepare graduates for careers in agricultural agencies, research institutions and community development.  

ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

The Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development offers a range of academic programs designed to build expertise in agricultural extension services and rural development strategies.
